Deep Echoes of Stillness

about

Deep Echoes of Stillness originated with a commission I was given by Richard Rudd from the Gene Keys project. I composed and recorded the original piece for solo shakuhachi, and this can be heard on the Zen Stillness music set for Yoga and Relaxation. I later came back to the piece and created a second shakuhachi part in harmony with the original, turning the piece into a slow-moving duet. This brings up an image of two souls gently dancing around each other like branches of a tree in the moonlight, deeply harmonised and fully present in the heart. The music represents a space of deep stillness, with gentle movement and flow.

The scope of his music is diverse, including songs was well as instrumental music, but an ineffable sense of the sacred is retained throughout. ... more
